Terms and Conditions
The contractual framework that applies whenever you book a catamaran charter through Athena Catamarans.
Last updated: 9 May 2026 · Applicable law: Greece (Hellenic Republic) · Jurisdiction: Athens, Greece.
1. Parties
These Terms govern the contractual relationship between Athena Catamarans ("the Operator", "we", "us") — a Greek-registered charter operator with offices at Akti Selinis 88, Glyfada 16675, Greece — and the natural or legal person ("the Charterer", "you") who submits a booking inquiry, pays a deposit, or signs a charter agreement for any vessel listed on this website.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By submitting an inquiry, paying a deposit, or boarding a vessel, you accept these Terms in full. If you do not agree, please do not proceed with a booking.
3. Booking & Confirmation
- Bookings are confirmed only when (a) the deposit is received in full and cleared in our bank account, and (b) we issue a written charter agreement.
- The deposit is 15 % of the total charter fee, payable by SEPA / IBAN bank transfer.
- A second instalment of 35 % is due no later than two weeks before the start of the charter.
- The remaining balance is collected by separate notice ahead of departure, per the schedule communicated to you by email.
- Until the deposit clears we cannot guarantee dates and the listed vessel may be released to other charterers.
4. Cancellation Policy
- 90-day money-back guarantee — if you cancel 30 or more days before your charter departure, we refund your deposit in full. Refunds are processed within 90 days of cancellation (less any bank fees).
- Within 30 days of departure: the deposit and any subsequent payments are non-refundable, but may be transferred to alternative dates within the same charter season subject to availability.
- We strongly recommend comprehensive travel and charter cancellation insurance.
5. Vessel Substitution & Force Majeure
In the rare event that the booked vessel becomes unavailable due to mechanical failure, damage, force majeure, or government order, we will offer either (a) a vessel of equal or greater specification, (b) alternative dates, or (c) a full refund of all payments — at the Charterer's choice. Force majeure includes weather warnings issued by the Hellenic Coast Guard, port authority closures, and any event outside our reasonable control.
6. Captain's Authority
All charters are sailed by a captain certified under Hellenic Coast Guard requirements. The captain has final authority over routing, anchorage selection, departure, and refusal to sail in unsafe conditions. The Charterer's preferred itinerary is honoured wherever sea conditions and Greek maritime regulations permit.
7. Damage & Security Deposit
A refundable security deposit (typically €1,000–€3,000 depending on the vessel) is collected on arrival and refunded on safe return of the vessel in equivalent condition. Damage caused by the Charterer or their guests beyond fair wear-and-tear is recovered from the security deposit; reckless or grossly negligent damage may exceed the deposit and be invoiced to the Charterer.
8. Charterer Conduct & Capacity
- The Charterer must respect the vessel's certified passenger capacity at all times.
- Illegal substances, firearms, and untrained pets are not permitted on board.
- Children under 12 must wear a life jacket while the vessel is under way or at anchor in unprotected water.
9. Insurance
Every vessel in our fleet carries P&I (Protection & Indemnity), hull, third-party liability, and crew insurance to the levels required by Greek charter law. Personal travel insurance covering medical, baggage, and trip cancellation is the responsibility of the Charterer.
10. Liability
Our liability is limited to the value of the charter fee paid. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Greek consumer law.
11. Privacy & Cookies
Personal data submitted via our booking forms is processed in line with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, both compliant with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Greek Law 4624/2019.
12. Disputes
We aim to resolve any complaint within 30 days. If a dispute cannot be resolved amicably, our Dispute Resolution Policy applies. The contract is governed by Greek law and exclusive jurisdiction lies with the courts of Athens, Greece. Consumers may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
13. Amendments
We may update these Terms periodically. The version in force on the date your charter agreement is signed governs that booking. Material changes are communicated by email to active charterers.
