    Our Story

Built one charter at a time, since 2014.

Athena Catamarans started with a single sailing catamaran, a captain, and a frustration with charter operators who treated every booking like an interchangeable transaction. We thought there was a better version — one where the boat, the route, and the crew were chosen for the people on board, not the other way around.

Twelve seasons on, the model is the same — just at a different scale. We operate 29 catamarans across the Aegean and Ionian, partnered with shipyards we trust and yacht owners who hold their boats to our standard. Charterers from more than forty countries trust us with their once-a-year holiday.

We don't run a discount fleet. We don't take walk-up bookings without a contract. Every charter starts with a real conversation about what you actually want from your week.

    What We Stand For

    Four principles, no exceptions

These aren't taglines — they're the rules by which we'll cancel a booking before we'll break them.

    Hospitality, Greek-style

Our crews aren't service staff playing a role — they live in these islands and treat every charterer as a guest in their own home.

    Transparency in writing

Every quote is itemised. Every charter contract spells out the cancellation terms in plain English. No fine print, no surprise fees at the marina.

    A fleet you can trust

We know which boats are well-built and which aren't. Every catamaran is maintained to the standard required by Greek charter law and our own internal checks.

    Local routing, real captains

Our captains know Greek waters. The anchorages they recommend aren't from tourist guides — they're the bays locals actually use.

    How We Operate

    Operating standards

The unsexy but important parts. Insurance, certifications, maintenance, sustainability.

    Insurance

Every vessel carries the insurance required to operate as a Greek charter yacht — hull, third-party liability and protection cover, all kept current and renewed annually.

    Professional captains

Charters are sailed by licensed captains with deep experience of Greek waters. The captain you sail with is one we've worked with personally.

    Maintained to standard

Boats are inspected before every charter, serviced between charter weeks, and have an independent technician on call across the bases we operate from.

    Licensed operator

Greek Ministry of Tourism (MHTE) registered charter operator. Every booking issues a charter contract under Greek law with EU consumer protections.

    Multilingual support

Charter team and captains communicate fluently in English, with additional languages available depending on the captain assigned.

    Responsible sailing

We use designated mooring facilities, avoid anchoring on protected seagrass, and reduce single-use plastics on board wherever possible.

    Where We Sail From

    Eleven charter bases

Pick a base, and your captain is already living five minutes from the marina.

    Why a Catamaran

Two hulls, more boat per metre

A catamaran isn't a luxury upgrade over a monohull — for most charterers it's the right tool.

    Stability & comfort

Twin hulls mean almost no heel — you can pour a glass of wine under sail without spilling.

    Spacious living

Larger cockpit, bigger saloon, double the deck space versus a monohull of similar length.

    Shallow draft

1.0–1.4 m draft lets us anchor in bays a 50-foot monohull could never reach.

    Privacy

Cabins separated across two hulls — couples and families both get their own space.

"The boats matter, but the captain matters more — and we choose people who actually know the waters they sail."
